Cloudhiker

Description

I first discovered Cloudhiker while desperately trying to Google for an alternative to StumbleUpon. I found myself craving the ability to explore and discover little interesting websites outside the "walled gardens" of social media (especially while bored at work), and StumbleUpon was apparently no more. I found a Reddit thread (of course) with a few different options for sites that provided similar experiences, and Cloudhiker felt the most one for one. The rest is history!

There isn't much to say about Cloudhiker, beyond it being important enough to note down as a resource. It's a fantastic place to find your inspiration and new modes of thinking about and living in the world. It highlights a lot of great vintage pages too, so if you're like me and am constantly curious about how people engaged with and talked about culture "back then" this site is a treat.

Connections

  • Cloudhiker is a great way of discovering new digital gardens from the past and present. If you're looking to design your own, this is a great place to start for inspiration.
